Data automation and digitalization are usually associated with high costs, heavy workload and few measurable benefits. Therefore, it is worth cooperating with a partner who understands this issue comprehensively, knows how to list future benefits and offers his clients an actual leap in quality that translates into real profits. Thanks to modern IT solutions, a well-implemented change allows to optimize costs and increase efficiency while achieving a competitive advantage and a stronger link between the company and its customers.
Cloud solutions and digital transformation
What does the term digital transformation mean? To us, it is not so much about a desire to own a high-tech company with trendy solutions, but simply an optimal fulfillment of needs related to challenges of the modern business world. What are those needs?
We will discuss an example from the manufacturing industry: modern solutions make it possible to predict how much of the raw material required for production must be ordered without losing production continuity. In a fast-changing world, where supply chains have become the biggest concern for businesses, access to raw materials and forecasting their demand are crucial. How can we do this if our business still counts data in static documents?
Classic methods of data collection, e. g. using spreadsheets, do not allow for real-time verification of stock levels, customer delivery cycles and the entire product lifecycle. Lack of this information does not allow for timely warnings about critical shortages or for generating automated guidance on what to order and when. Thus, a number of needs arise which can be met if the problem is analyzed and addressed properly. Modern possibilities of communication by means of Internet networks and cloud solutions bring considerable benefit to all who know how to use them. What ValueLogic offers is a systemic integration of the advantages data digitalization can provide to streamline business operations. Just that and so much more when we look at the benefits.

From an Excel spreadsheet to an All-in-one app that manages the company’s resources…
A good example of the effectiveness of our solutions is cooperation with a manufacturing company Siegwerk. Our client is an ink manufacturer and one of the main suppliers of this product in the world. Without the inks from this global manufacturer, production lines and printing presses could come to a standstill overnight. What has been achieved as a result of our digital transformation solutions?
- Maintaining smooth delivery process for global clients
- Eliminating Excel spreadsheets from data tracking processes, such as materials level, raw materials quantity, stock level and customer delivery cycles
- Real-time visualization of consignment stocks
- Managing those stocks
Moreover, we have strengthened the bond between our client and their contractors by intergating them with the system created for Siegwerk. This enables the contractors to place orders through a central app-based platform, and the system predicts their product usage and sends alerts of low stock levels, as well as hints on what stock needs to be replenished.

How do we implement such a transformation in a business?
By using modern methodologies without needless actions, while supporting the client in a full analysis of their needs and selecting optimal new tools.
Effective assistance begins with an analysis and understanding of the company’s operations, including manufacturing processes, product lifecycle and business relationships. At this stage, we have a conversation with the client in order to run the necessary tests and calculations. Those meetings usually take a form of workshops, during which we get to the real needs of the company. It is also easier to estimate the scale of integration of our solutions with the client’s infrastructure. In Siegwerk’s case, the software we developed had to include the integration of machines from different suppliers.
The next stage was to start working on a target solution. In the case of Siegwerk, our basic version of the application (the so-called MVP — Minimum Viable Product) came to life after only 4 months of our cooperation. This allowed us to test the first functionalities of the app and then extend it.
We based our solution on AWS /Amazon Web Services, providing public cloud services/ which translated into low costs of architecture and maintenance, as well as easy scalability and future growth of the application.
We then implemented PostgreSQL /one of the three most popular open-source relational database management systems/, which collects and categorizes all information on users, materials and usage in order to integrate all data from consignment inventory. In the area not visible to users (back-end), we also used Java Spring and AWS.
